Shrimp, Suds, and Sunshine: Our Oak Island Quest

For as long as we can remember, Holly and I had one goal: to spend our retirement years with our toes in the sand. We’re thrilled to say we finally made that dream a reality right here on Oak Island, NC.

But for us, beach life isn’t about white tablecloths or five-course meals. We’re much more at home in a pair of flip-flops and a well-worn t-shirt. Our idea of the perfect afternoon is simple: a pile of spicy boiled shrimp, a cold beer, and a breeze coming off the water and utilizing a beach bike for transportation.

Now, we’re on a mission to find the absolute best spots in town to do just that. We’re traveling across OKI, Southport, Bald Head area, in  eastern  N.C.,  visiting local restaurants and raw bars to find our favorites. We’re ranking each  based on what matters most: the quality and taste of the food, the atmosphere, the warmth of the staff, and the value for the cost. Follow along as we find the best "no-fuss" gems our island has to offer!
