May is the perfect time to set your on catching Yellowfin tuna or Mahi Mahi. While fishing always comes with its uncertainties, something special about venturing out into the open water for an offshore fishing excursion. If luck is on your side and you reel in a big one, you'll likely find yourself planning a return trip. nothing quite like the satisfaction of grilling fresh fish that you caught yourself, making the experience all the more rewarding
One could easily pop into the cabin and take a little power nap, assuming it is a nice smooth , gentle rocking as the boat heads out. Personally I think early morning is the best part of the day. As we pass under the Oregon Inlet bridge, which is know for it’s challenging and constant shifting sands in the inlet and through the channel into the great Atlantic Ocean, you feel the mist off the the boat as it breaks through the gentle rolling waves. This area off the coast of N.C. is know as “the graveyard of the Atlantic” due to treacherous shift in sandbars. Not to mention the tales of infamous pirate Blackbeard.

It was an early morning adventure as we departed the dock before dawn, excitement buzzing in the air. After a couple of hours on water, we finally reached our fishing destination. Suddenly, Nick, our first mate, sprang into, preparing to cast the lines and kick off the day’s fishing. The anticipation was palpable; felt like kids on Christmas morning, eagerly awaiting the thrill of the catch after waking up at 3:00 AM with dreams of big fish in our minds.

After hours patiently trolling the stunning Atlantic waters, we finally hit the jackpot with a school of Mahi. The excitement was palpable four lines went off in a frenzy, creating pure chaos on deck With First Mate Nick expertly managing the action, the adrenaline surged, reminding us that while fishing can be unpredictable, the thrill of the catch makes it all worthwhile! Experience this exhilarating for yourself!

We had an incredible run around midday, filled with excitement and high hopes for landing some Yellow Tuna, in addition to the Mahi we had already caught! Captain Brad was on mission to find us more fish, and his energy was contagious! Even without additional catches, we had an absolute blast with the entire group, creating memories and sharing our love for the great outdoors. Now, we're heading back to the marina, buzzing with joy from our fantastic adventure!

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure on the water! Just wrapped up an amazing adventure with 5 Mahi caught, cleaned, and waiting. This is one experience you’t want to miss, and we guarantee you'll be back more! Capt. What a fantastic day! We've got our catch cleaned and chilling in the cooler and ready for the grill. Now, let the relaxation commence as we swap fish tales and laugh over our days adventures—because nothing brings a dad and son closer than a couple of good laughs and a fishy story or two!

If you are going for a fishing trip out of Oregon Inlet you will need some lodging. Our trip was in May, prior to tourist season and we just need somewhere clean to lay our head. Remember this is a fishing trip! The Tar Heel Motel is clean and very convenient to Oregon Inlet. Across the street is great casual dinning at Millers Waterfront overlooking the Roanoke Sound. Sit in the dinning area or upstairs at the bar and enjoy the open air.
